Marka Stepper, viola, held the distinguished Mr. and Mrs. David Kittner faculty chair at Settlement Music School, where she taught violin and viola for over 25 years. She also led the popular Adult Chamber Music Program at the school. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, she was a student of the renowned Lillian Fuchs, and, before that, Joseph dePasquale, of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Before moving back to her native Philadelphia area in the 1980’s, she spent three years in Xalapa, Mexico with the Orquesta Sinfonica and later performed and taught in south Texas. Now an active freelance musician, she plays with the Newtown Chamber Orchestra, Bucks County Symphony, Danoff String Quartet, and has been a member of the Ocean City Pops Orchestra since 1989.
